Knowing how difficult it can be to take that step, I like to take the time to get to know you as a person-both the areas you want to grow or learn in, as well as your strengths. This way, we can build on what is already working for you. My approach I utilize a mix of counseling theories in order to tailor your treatment to what works best for you. CBT, DBT, person-centered, and trauma-informed care are my usual approaches. This allows me to help you uncover what your goals are so that we can use an approach that will work best for you. My focus I am a firm believer in working together to both identify your goals but also to reach those goals, including sometimes assigning revisions or homework for both my clients and sometimes even myself. My communication style I am most comfortable utilizing a more relaxed approach to therapy. I want you to feel that you can relax and share without judgment or formality. My journey to mental healthcare I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years in a variety of treatment environments, including crisis units, residential facilities, community outreach, and outpatient settings. I truly enjoy working with people and helping them to better their lives. My goals for you We will work together to identify your goals, break them down into smaller, more manageable steps, and then work together to accomplish those smaller steps or change tactics if we realize our initial plan it’s not working as expected. My first session with you An initial session can be expected to be more of a get-to-know-you/ assessment session where we can begin to build our therapeutic relationship as well as help me to learn what is important to you in therapy.
