Getting to know Heather Holzhauser

I’m a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree from the University of Kansas and nearly two decades of experience in the field. Since earning my degree in 2006, I’ve worked in a variety of therapy and social work settings, which has given me a broad foundation and deep understanding of how to support individuals through many different life challenges. Over the past seven years, I’ve focused on private practice, and in 2024, I launched my own therapy business to expand the ways I serve individuals seeking growth and healing. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and subconscious reprogramming to help clients achieve meaningful, lasting change. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as adjunct faculty at the University of Chicago and Loyola University, where I enjoy sharing knowledge and staying connected to emerging research and clinical practices. I love learning and collaborating with like-minded professionals, always bringing both curiosity and my own clinical expertise to the table. Meditation is the foundation of my self-care, helping me stay grounded, present, and attuned to my clients’ needs. I’ve also become increasingly intrigued by the potential of psychedelic therapy and hope to possibly integrate it into my practice as an additional tool for healing sometime in the future. Above all, I believe in empowering people with the tools and insights they need to create real, lifelong change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I take a collaborative, results-oriented approach to therapy. I’m warm, direct, and genuinely invested in helping you move toward your goals. I believe in getting to the root of what’s holding you back—whether it's thought patterns, emotional blocks, or deeper subconscious beliefs—and equipping you with tools that create real change. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting. You just need to be open to the process. I’ll meet you where you are and support you every step of the way with compassion and curiosity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Whether we’re working on shifting limiting beliefs, processing past experiences, or setting goals for the future, my goal is to create a space that feels supportive, grounded, and productive. You can expect a mix of reflection, strategy, and encouragement—always at your pace and with your goals in mind.

A very great session. Well structured, empathetic, caring, considerate. Came away with a plan on how I could work on my issues with a timeline and checkup points. Just loved it.
I cannot recommend Heather highly enough. From my very first session, I felt seen, heard, and truly understood in a way I had never experienced before. She's compassionate, knowlegable, and non judgmental. She created a safe space where I felt I could be myself and truly open up and work through challenges I had been carrying for years. No matter the subject we were addressing, Heather offered a steady, supportive presense that helped me transform my life. The empathy she shows is genuine and I always appreciated that she was direct in her questions and responses. My sessions with her always felt productive. I would leave with tools and strategies that left a lasting empact on my life. If you're considering therapy and want someone who truly cares, listens deeply, and has the expertise to help you grow and heal, then you'll find the perfect fit with Heather.
