Getting to know Heather Marie Thompson
I'm Dr. Thompson, a dually trained clinical social worker and marriage and family therapist with a Master's in Social Work and a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Florida State University. I believe deeply in the power of relationships and how our external environment shapes our feelings about ourselves.

Do you find yourself constantly wondering about things but never really gaining your footing? You're not alone! Whether it's finishing school, a career change, marriage, divorce, launching children, or another transition we experience, stress can arise. Talking through these changes can be beneficial not only for individual coping but also for everyone you come into contact with.
As a therapist who focuses on social construction, I work with individuals on managing anxiety and the expectations we place on ourselves. Particularly for women, society often imposes many demands, and we try to balance so much—trying to please everyone. Yet, the person at the center is often neglected. In our sessions, we will focus on developing a stronger sense of who you are by creating a safe space to reflect, heal, and grow through compassion, understanding, and evidence-based techniques.
What should a new client know about working with you?
From our sessions, you can expect to take away skills to manage the day-to-day challenges many of us face balancing everyone's expectations while not losing a sense of ourselves. You will hopefully leave with a better understanding of who you are, what drives and motivates you, and how you can live a more fulfilling life.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
