My name is Heather Mauro, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a perinatal mental health certification. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University. I support adults as they navigate role changes to live a more fulfilling, successful, and joyful life.
My approach includes CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, strengths-based methods, and emotional support.
My focus is on adults, parents, LGBTQAI+ allies, and those experiencing grief and loss.
My communication style aims to create an atmosphere of warmth and growth. I am caring and supportive of your therapy goals while using humor and real-life examples to help clients identify areas for growth.
My journey to therapy is personal-I often say that I don't simply work as a social worker, I AM a social worker. I wholeheartedly believe that all people are worthy of a fulfilling and happy life. I am honored to walk alongside people on this journey, celebrating your wins and supporting you through losses.
My goals for you are set collaboratively by prioritizing your needs and wants. Since there is no finish line in life, goals offer meaningful change.
During our first session, I want to get to know you and help you feel comfortable speaking with me. I'll ask about your family, your life, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I'll explain what you can expect and let you set the pace. By the end of our first session, I hope you feel comfortable and empowered to continue your journey.
