I think one of the most important things you need to know about me is that I absolutely LOVE what I do and work very hard to take great care of my clients. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach to counseling combines cognitive-behavioral and person-centered techniques and I will tailor our time together to meet your unique and specific needs. However, I am not a "smile and nod" therapist. I enjoy dialogue with my clients and will give you feedback as we work together. Also, despite the hard emotions we will work through...we will laugh. I will call you on your stuff when needed as I have a pretty good BS detector after 20+ years in this field and I'm also not afraid to talk about anything you want or need to talk through. I've been doing this for a long time and have talked about ALL the things over the years. So, let's get everything out there, process through it, find solutions, and move forward with a healthier, happier life! It takes courage to seek a better life and I am here to support and empower you as you take those first steps toward making a positive change for yourself! I specialize in working with Anxiety, Stress, Grief, Trauma, Autism, and Behavioral Issues. To learn more about my specializations click here. Now for the degrees, experience, and expertise: I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2001 (Summa Cum Laude). I then went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling (Magna Cum Laude) also from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2003. I was trained by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for 2 years and have over 24 years of experience working with behavioral problems and children, adolescents, and adults on the Autism spectrum. I worked at Heartlight Ministries in Hallsville, TX, a residential treatment center for adolescents, as both a counselor and their director of counseling.
