Getting to know Heather Metzger

Note: Heather treats patients ages 12-65 years old.
Mrs. Metzger provides counseling services for children, adolescents, adults and families experiencing a variety of challenges. Heather is trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and strengths-based perspective. Heather has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, residential, in-home, and at an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) specialized school setting. She has experience helping adolescents and adults process trauma, improve self-esteem, enhance healthy relationships, reduce disruptive behaviors, manage anxiety and depression, navigate through life transitions, and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing challenges. Heather has also has experience treating substance use and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and has completed postgraduate training in trauma resolution.
Mrs. Metzger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana who earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University while competing in NCAA Division I softball. Heather believes in utilizing a strengths-based perspective along with creative techniques to empower individuals, families, and groups to grow, heal and achieve as whole people. It is important to her to acknowledge and respect the individuality of others as their unique selves and their ability to use self-determination as a catalyst for positive change.
