Heather Sprouse, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CT
Hi there, I'm Heather! Greetings. My name is Heather. I have been a social worker for over the past six years and recently obtained my clinical license. I earned my Master?s in Social Work from Saint Joseph College. I have been working since I was 16 years old, doing everything from childcare and restaurant server to director of a gymnastics program for over five years. As a social worker, I have experience working with children through adults in a variety of settings. In my most recent position, I was a supervisor for an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I enjoy collaborating with my clients. I want to hear what has been troubling you and how, together, we can make adjustments, learn new skills or perspectives?ultimately, to help you live the life you dream of. My approach My approach to therapy is collaborative teamwork. Together, we will discuss what has been troubling you and determine the "game plan" on how to make adjustments. This could include techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and/or psychodynamic therapy. My focus I typically see clients presenting with increased depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation, in addition to ADHD, social, and family stressors. I am most comfortable working with these presentations along with personality disorders and psychosis. My communication style I like to create a very peaceful and relaxing environment. Together, we will discuss your likes and dislikes and determine what communication style best suits your needs. When we work together, I want our time to feel like talking with a friend?easy and relaxed. My journey to mental healthcare I chose to be a social worker to show people the light in life. I want to plant a seed in someone?s life to help them create the life they want. My goals for you I like to get the client?s perspective on the goals we will work on. Together, we will determine the top goals they feel are important and continue reevaluating them.
