Getting to know Heather Vest

Life can feel overwhelming when you are carrying stress, anxiety, relationship concerns, or experiences from the past that still affect you. You may be doing well in many areas of your life while still feeling exhausted, disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what needs to change. I help adults work through trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, burnout, and major life transitions. My approach is compassionate, practical, and personalized. Together, we will identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck, build healthier ways of coping, and help you feel more grounded and in control. You do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin wherever you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a private, welcoming, and down to earth space where you can speak openly without judgment. You do not need to perform, remain composed, or have the right words. My goal is to help you feel comfortable enough to be honest about what is happening and what you need. I use approaches such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and trauma focused therapy, but I do not believe in one size fits all treatment. We will choose strategies based on your needs, personality, goals, and pace. Some sessions may focus on deeper emotional work, while others may involve practical tools, boundaries, communication, relationships, or managing the demands of everyday life. You can expect compassion, honest feedback, and humor when it feels appropriate.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will begin by discussing what brought you to therapy, what has been weighing on you, and what you would like to be different. We will also talk about your history, current responsibilities, relationships, strengths, and any patterns that may be affecting your well being. From there, we will create a personalized plan that may include EMDR, CBT, DBT, trauma focused therapy, emotional regulation skills, and practical problem solving. Our sessions may involve processing past experiences, improving communication, setting healthier boundaries, managing stress, or working through an important transition. Therapy will be collaborative and focused on meaningful progress. We will regularly discuss what is helping, adjust the approach when needed, and work toward changes that feel realistic and sustainable.
