Getting to know Heather Zimmerman

Hi there, I'm Heather! Hello, my name is Heather Zimmerman, BSW, MSW, LCSW. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I pride myself on being a "modern-day hybrid therapist" of sorts-adaptable to client needs and knowledgeable in a multitude of therapeutic techniques and methods. Many clients have told me that therapy with me doesn't always feel like therapy, yet healing and growth happen naturally, often without them being fully aware. My approach I strive to provide clients with the utmost care and support through honest feedback and solution-focused care. I am trained in various levels of care, including individual and group services, with motivational interviewing and positive psychology heavily integrated into my trauma-informed approach. My focus I have worked with clients aged 8 to 75 from diverse backgrounds. While I primarily work with teens and younger adults, I enjoy serving the community as a whole. I thrive in treating behavioral concerns, grief, women's issues, and trauma exploration. My communication style I am honest and straightforward in discussion, believing that rapport can take many forms. I often use dry humor and laughter during sessions to create a relaxed, conversational atmosphere. I want to meet clients where they are and ensure they know that honesty without judgment is what they can always expect from me. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up in the South, I was raised in an environment where emotions, feelings, and trauma were rarely discussed, and I often didn't know who to turn to. As I grew older, I realized I wanted to help others. Over time, I understood that I wanted to be the person someone could reach out to when they felt they had no one else. I became fascinated with the idea of not "fixing" someone but empowering them to achieve the growth they seek-and being their cheerleader along the way.
