Getting to know Hector Alvarez

If you’re here, chances are you’ve already carried your pain for a long time. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, maybe you’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, or tried to “push through”—but nothing has really shifted. You still find yourself stuck in the same loops of anxiety, stress, or self-doubt, wondering if change is even possible. That can be exhausting, and it can quietly drain the joy from your relationships, your work, and your sense of self. My role as your therapist is to help you stop fighting against your mind and start building a life that feels worth living. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which means we won’t just talk about your struggles—we’ll practice concrete skills to handle difficult thoughts and emotions differently. You’ll learn how to stop getting hooked by them, and instead take meaningful steps toward what actually matters to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

- A safe, non-judgmental space where you can be honest about what you’re going through—without pressure to “have it all together.” - Guidance that’s compassionate but also practical. I won’t just nod and listen; I’ll equip you with strategies you can actually use day-to-day. - A process that’s less about “fixing” you and more about empowering you to show up fully, even with life’s challenges. -If you’re tired of surface-level coping and want therapy that helps you create real movement—mentally, emotionally, and in your daily life—that’s the work we’ll do together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initial Session: We’ll talk about your current challenges and your goals for therapy. Ongoing Sessions: Each session is tailored to your needs, blending talk therapy with experiential exercises based on ACT principles. Collaborative Process: You’re the expert on your life. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering tools and insights to help you move forward.
