MD
Hello, I'm Heidi. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland-Baltimore, and I also hold a Master's in Legal and Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Montana. With over six years of experience working in a busy Veterans Hospital and additional experience at Johns Hopkins Hospital's community mental health program, I have had the privilege of helping adults experiencing homelessness, legal issues, and substance abuse issues manage their social issues and process grief. This journey has provided me with extensive experience and training in treating anxiety and depression, including depression related to grief. My therapeutic approach is strength-based and client-centered, integrating techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am passionate about building upon your inherent strengths to form the foundation for stability and successful reintegration. As your therapist, I will work with you to empower you and make positive changes to manage your mental health symptoms in daily life. I am dedicated to creating a positive, safe, and supportive environment to help you cope with various life stressors. I provide information and proven techniques that assist you in using your strengths and developing skills to overcome life’s challenges. My counseling style is calm, nonjudgmental, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I am committed to helping you define what really matters in your life and navigate choices in that direction. I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally affirming manner, and making sure you feel supported is very important to me in building a therapeutic relationship. If you're ready to take the next step towards managing your mental health and navigating life's challenges, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more stable future.
