Psychotherapist
MN
When people are curious about therapy, I often tell them, "Therapy is a space to explore and understand how you function as a person, in your relationships, and within the world around you". I have found that the general population tends to think of therapy as something to seek during a big life transition or as a "last resort"; however, therapy can be equally as beneficial in helping people to understand their emotions and behaviors as it can be in a crisis. There is no reason too small to seek therapy and begin to achieve a stronger sense of self and inner peace. My approach As a mental health provider, I am trained in various clinical approaches to therapy. Some of these include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and brief solution-focused therapy. I embrace a strengths-based, person-centered approach with all of my patients, regardless of their reason for seeking therapy. As a patient, you will receive hands-on exposure and practice to several coping skills & tools in order to determine what works best for you. My focus I work with patients aged 12 and older, and I have a particular interest in serving adults 65+. I help patients with a variety of issues - depression, anxiety, PTSD, life stressors, life transitions, personality disorders, grief/loss, etc. I work best with patients who have a genuine curiosity in exploring their life experiences and challenging current ways of thinking that may not be serving them well. I work with people of all gender identities, race(s), lifestyles, and belief systems. It is crucial for my patients to feel accepted and seen for who they are in the therapy space. My communication style My communication style is open, curious, approachable, and genuine. I work hard to create a therapeutic space that facilitates open communication without fear of judgment or assumption.
