Helen Britton, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Irene! My name is Irene Britton, and I'm a licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. I have worked with clients of all ages, from 5 to 85, and from all walks of life. It's never too late to accomplish your dreams-I was a high school dropout for 20 years and overcame a learning disability to earn my degree. I love to motivate people to be their best selves. My approach I am an eclectic therapist, using the therapy model that works best for you (we are each a different puzzle piece). I am partial to Client-Centered and Integrative Therapies, as well as Systems Theory. As an employment specialist, I have also learned how to be a life coach and plan incremental steps to help my clients accomplish their goals in life. My focus I specialize in trauma recovery, anxiety reduction, chronic pain and stress regulation, sexual abuse recovery, and insomnia resolution. With 30 years of experience, I have collected many resources, tips, hacks, and hints. Because of my age and training, I am very comfortable discussing sexual issues-like Dr. Ruth, RIP. My communication style I am a positive and fun therapist. Many of my clients have said that talking to me is like talking to grandma over milk and cookies, which is my favorite description. I use humor to approach tough topics and reward my clients with emoji signs for a little dopamine hit. They say laughter is the best medicine, and a recent MD who admitted he was therapist-shopping said he definitely had the most fun with me and scheduled more appointments. My journey to mental healthcare When I was a young mother, many younger women came to me for help, and I felt helpless to assist them. I got married in high school after my home burned to the ground and avoided getting my GED due to an undiagnosed learning disability. I graduated alongside my two oldest children, and then Momma went away to college.
