Getting to know Herenia Ferreiro

All prescriptions furnished by UpLift Behavioral Health care providers are issued in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as UpLift Behavioral Health policy. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida since 1998 (licensed in New Jersey since 1995). I hold a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a Bachelor's degree from Montclair State University. My experience includes working with adults and adolescents facing mental health issues, conducting assessments and evaluations, and providing individual therapy. I am trained in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for PTSD related to trauma, Motivational Enhancement Therapy for substance use disorders, and Motivational Interviewing. In addition, I utilize several other therapeutic modalities. My areas of focus include anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment issues, grief and loss, anger management, adolescent behavioral and emotional issues, case management, evaluations and treatment for addiction issues, DUI evaluation and treatment, and crisis intervention.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I will start working with them, where they are comfortable, at the therapeutic level of care they desire. I am compassionate, empathic, and fair and will challenge, but also teach and provide tools for managing and learning new skills, in order for the client to make the changes there desire, or improve their mental health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will initially take a telephone registration, where I collect the demographic information. The next steps include making an appointment for the initial evaluation to collect information on the issue that is distressing the client. Upon completion of the evaluation, a treatment plan with desired objectives and goals to take in order for the client to feel better or make the desired changes identified. If and when all goals are met, the client will decide whether to continue with maintenance sessions or decrease sessions to twice or once a month or whether they want to discharge from treatment
