Holly Miller, LPC

Holly Miller, LPC

Psychotherapist
2656 W Montrose Ave, Ste 112, Chicago, IL
I believe that therapy can be a space for introspection and positive change. I work to establish a collaborative, warm, and supportive relationship in order to cultivate insight by exploring how your past impacts current behavior, emotions, and relationships. Cultivating a deeper understanding of yourself can be transformative to both your relationships with yourself and others. I work with both individuals and couples and have experience supporting those navigating issues related to sexuality and identity. I strive to create a safe and empathetic environment where you can explore and be curious about your unique experience. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School and completed a fellowship at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis, which enriches my approach to therapy with a deep understanding of psychodynamic principles.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice focuses on how traumatic experiences in your history and the different systems that you are a part of inform the struggles you may be facing. I have a firm belief in self-determination and empowerment both in and out of the therapy room. My therapeutic style is gentle and direct. You are the expert in your experience, and I view my role as a clinician as one of walking alongside you on this journey rather than leading.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Thank you for reaching out! Please note that when you book a session, it may not occur at the time scheduled depending on how far in advance you book, as I need to collect completed intake forms before we start therapy; if you would like to begin right away, please make sure to book approximately 24 hours in advance to give enough time to fill out the paperwork. When starting therapy, we will work together to establish goals of therapy during our initial sessions and continue to collaborate on what you would like to work on throughout treatment. What we discuss in therapy is up to you, and I value creating a therapeutic relationship based on openness and compassion. My approach to therapy is insight and depth-oriented, as I believe it's important to fully bring what might have been previously unconscious into the conscious realm. Doing this can allow greater freedom and agency in deciding what change looks like for each individual person.
