OH
I am a compassionate and affirming counselor who believes every person deserves a space where they can feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. My approach is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and collaboration, and I strive to create a supportive environment where clients can safely explore challenges, growth, identity, and healing. I have experience working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, identity exploration, relationship challenges, and emotional stress. I am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and those who have experienced feelings of isolation, rejection, or not fully belonging. My background in creative expression and communication also allows me to incorporate creativity, storytelling, and self-expression into the therapeutic process when helpful. I believe therapy should feel human, empowering, and tailored to each individual's unique experiences and goals.

Getting to know Hope Striving

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, person-centered, and strength based. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to help support insight, healing, resilience, and meaningful change. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and solution-focused techniques while adapting therapy to meet each client's needs and comfort level. I work to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where clients can openly explore emotions, relationships, identity, and personal growth. I value authenticity and connection in the counseling relationship and believe progress happens when clients feel genuinely supported and understood. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity concerns, stress, or emotional overwhelm, I aim to help clients build self-awareness, confidence, coping skills, and hope.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where we begin building trust and connection. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I move at a pace that feels comfortable for each individual. Our first session is an opportunity for me to learn more about your experiences, concerns, goals, strengths, and what brings you to therapy. We will discuss what you hope to gain from counseling and begin identifying areas where support and growth may be helpful. Clients can also expect collaboration, authenticity, and compassion throughout the process. My goal is to help you feel heard, respected, and empowered while creating a space where you can safely explore emotions, challenges, identity, relationships, and personal growth.
