Hua Zhong, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) dedicated to creating a warm, supportive, and collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I provide therapy in both English and Mandarin Chinese and am passionate about offering culturally responsive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family concerns, cultural and identity-related challenges, life transitions, and stress. I understand that seeking therapy can feel difficult, and I strive to provide a nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore your experiences at a pace that feels comfortable. Before becoming a therapist, I studied and worked in technology. This background gives me a unique understanding of the pressures associated with demanding careers, high expectations, cultural transitions, and balancing professional and personal responsibilities. My approach is compassionate, curious, and individualized. I draw from evidence-informed approaches including person-centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, somatic approaches, and trauma-informed care. I tailor treatment to each person's experiences, strengths, values, and goals. I believe therapy can help us better understand ourselves, recognize patterns that keep us stuck, strengthen our relationships, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, relationships, cultural pressures, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I look forward to working alongside you toward greater self-awareness, resilience, connection, and well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I begin by creating a safe, welcoming space where you can share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to change. During our first few sessions, we will explore your current concerns, important experiences and relationships, strengths, and goals for treatment. Together, we will develop a plan that reflects your individual needs and priorities. As therapy progresses, I will help you identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships that may be contributing to distress or keeping you feeling stuck. Depending on your needs, we may work on developing practical coping skills, improving communication, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, and building greater self-awareness. My approach is collaborative and individualized. I regularly check in about your progress and experience of therapy so that we can adjust our work as your needs and goals evolve. My goal is to help you develop greater insight, resilience, and confidence in navigating challenges both during therapy and beyond.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and actively involved in the process. I begin by taking time to understand what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We will explore your experiences, relationships, strengths, and goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you. From there, we will work together to identify patterns that may be contributing to stress or keeping you feeling stuck. Depending on your needs, our sessions may focus on building practical coping skills, processing difficult emotions and experiences, improving relationships and communication, and developing greater self-understanding. My approach is collaborative and individualized rather than one-size-fits-all. Throughout therapy, we will regularly reflect on your progress and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. My goal is not only to help you manage current challenges, but also to help you develop insight, resilience, and skills that you can continue using long after therapy ends.
