Getting to know Huda Shaikh

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Board Certified Neurofeedback Clinician, and Board Approved Neurofeedback Mentor. My educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston and a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. My doctoral dissertation focused on comparing the modalities EMDR and neurofeedback in treating PTSD among intimate partner violence survivors. Given my passion for trauma work, in addition to being a Neurofeedback clinician, I am trained in EMDR therapy, am a CPT provider, trained in TF-CBT, and well versed in play therapy strategies. With a passion for trauma and program management, I have worked with diverse populations providing trauma therapy and neurofeedback therapy. Throughout my career, I have built trauma-focused programs at various mental health organizations. I have also been a contracted Neurofeedback clinician with the Lone Survivor Foundation, serving combat veterans who served our nation. Formerly, with Region 4 Education Service Center, I led a trauma team in the Santa Fe District to implement systems and provide trauma-wellness counseling services to students and staff in response to the May 18th mass violence tragedy at Santa Fe High School. My work centers on trauma-focused interventions with populations including combat veterans, survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and mass violence. My career is dedicated to the servitude of humanity, specifically with underserved populations.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Shes an amazing therapist and has helped me immensely in a short period of time. Couldn’t have asked for a better therapist.
Her intelligence and insight is so helpful. She's also funny and authentic.
Best therapist I've ever had, feel like I'm doing real work

Dr. Shaikh is amazing. After two prior attempts with other therapists, I was ready to throw in the towel and just accept that I'm broken beyond repair. But Dr. Shaikh is so warm and positive, my outlook has completely changed. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the first time and I am so grateful.
Dr. Shaikh's approach is intelligent, and her knowledge about the principles and different ways of approaching therapy is impressive and well-informed. I can talk for five or ten minutes about what I think is nothing, and she can distill the heart of what I was saying and then utilize that into a therapeutic purpose. She's just an all-star.
I have had different experiences with therapist before, but this is the first time ever that I’ve felt so comfortable talking to someone! Dr Shaikh’s openness to me really made me feel understood. That safety is exactly what I needed. Can’t wait to grow with her! So grateful for this opportunity.

I’ve had challenges in the past with therapists who just wanted to treat what was on the surface and not really address what was underneath causing those surface symptoms. Dr. Shaikh is not like that, she has helped me identify the root of some of my challenges. I think we are making real progress that I know will be life-changing in a positive way. She’s also very observant, nothing gets past her and her BS detector is top notch, which has been critical to working through things that other therapists might miss.
I have had a lot of therapists over the years, but I have never had one who can get me to connect my thoughts, feelings, and actions in a way that Huda does. She took the time to understand how my brain works to ensure I truly understand what we are working on in our sessions. I feel lighter and more prepared to tackle the unknown after every session.
Dr. Shaikh has been such an impactful part of my ability to work through a number of challenges. Dr. Shaikh is not only very knowledgeable but also very insightful. Her ability to help me process and work towards my goals has been such a blessing.
