I am a mindfulness-based therapist, passionate about interweaving multiple healing modalities for more holistic healing. I work with clients seeking support from a variety of experiences, with a focus on trauma, grief, and anxiety. I tailor sessions to my clients’ needs, whether we walk in a nearby park, utilize art when words are not enough, or create a cozy space on the couch with your favorite candle in the background. It’s important to me that we co-create a space of safety for you to heal in. I also believe in the power of slowing down, whether it be only for a breath or a full break. Slowing down gives us the opportunity to understand our experience more fully and respond with consideration for our values. I use slowing down in session to be a more effective therapist, and I encourage you to slow down with me. Slowing down allows us to turn toward our emotional experience. Imagine a child asking for your attention—when ignored, they get louder and may even tantrum. In our sessions, we work toward giving attention to these emotions early on, even when it’s uncomfortable, so they don’t need to scream for our attention later. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver, which supports my commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach draws from Mindfulness, ACT, IFS, Somatic therapy, and EMDR. ACT utilizes mindfulness to confront hard emotions that we often want to turn away from, ultimately allowing us to embark on value driven action. IFS posits that the mind is made up of multiple parts, some of which have defense mechanisms which are no longer helpful. Through this theory we aim to heal wounded parts and restore mental balance through compassionate understanding. Somatic therapy allows us to reconnect to the body's experience of our emotions to understand and release the past more fully. EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation of the brain - often back and forth eye movements or tapping - to more effectively process hard experiences and trauma. I like to incorporate a creative approach and experimentation with various tools from all of these modalities so we can find the best fit for you. I welcome your curiosity as we embark on this journey together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me might look something like this. We will start by checking in on your week -- what went well, what was challenging, and what you're looking forward to. Then we will check in on any goals you set the previous week. Goal setting is not required, but I like to offer it to my clients who want someone to stay accountable to. From there, I ask my clients what they would like to give attention to this session. I tend to balance processing and solution oriented therapy, so depending on what you need, we might spend half our time exploring the emotions and thoughts related to the day's topic, and then we will consider what tools might be helpful. We will end by setting goals for the following week. If this sounds like what you're looking for, let's connect!
