Getting to know Ian Parker

Therapy can be a scary prospect, and some have had less than ideal experiences with it. I hope to be a safe refuge for people who are looking to feel better and find relief. I work with clients from a relational, cognitive, and mind-body connection to promote progress and healing. If you are struggling with feeling emotionally run-down, alone, anxious, and wanting a better self to emerge from your life but can’t quite reach that potential, we can work together to find that realization. I enjoy using a variety of methods that meet your needs, personality, and style best—from talk therapy, relational healing, and trauma treatment to providing activities, strategies, and mindfulness techniques you can try at home or carry with you throughout your day. I hold a firm belief that we are all looking to get better in our own ways, and by working together, we can find a path to your goals that is unique to you. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Connecticut, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you on this journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take care to get to know my clients, create a safe environment and allow a healthy therapeutic relationship to form that involves both self-paced comfort and gentle guiding to areas of need or work. I work with clients to manage both short-term and longer-term symptoms through relational healing, mixed with cognitive interventions and a healthy body-mind connection. Some interventions may involve exploration, trauma treatment, action-based items, while other interventions may take longer and involve more relational experiences. We work at a pace that makes you comfortable, while still moving in a direction toward your goals.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
