Psychotherapist
885 N San Antonio Rd, Ste O, Los Altos, CA
My life thus far, I have been focusing on releasing childhood trauma, mother wounds, guilt and shame, and setting healthy boundaries which often was challenged by my Korean family culture. I believe asking for help is the most challenging part for many and dedicating/accepting the support as well. To me, coping with life stressors and processing them are two totally different lessons. Therapy can be utilized to not only make living life easier by adopting coping skills, but also to process life challenging difficulties in a safe containment. As a therapist, I have honed my skills in blending art therapy techniques with culturally sensitive approaches tailored to the unique needs of the client. By incorporating elements of east Asian culture (korean cultural background), personal experiences as an immigrant (foreign student), and art therapy background into therapy sessions, I have successfully helped clients access deeper levels of emotional expression and healing. Art therapy can be used by various populations to be introduced as the new language that can tap into one’s subconscious and unconscious level to deepen the understanding of the self. Art becomes a tool to expand one’s emotional expression by focusing on the process rather than the product to liberate suppressed feelings in the past. My practice emphasizes a holistic approach to mental health and enables the client by what could be adjusted in the setting; a safe and nurturing environment where clients could explore their emotions, build resilience, foster self-awareness, and further achieve self compassion. I facilitate individual therapy, client’s advocacy, family therapy, art group therapy, and couple therapy to lend support to make positive changes in client’s life. I’m most invested in empowering the client with having strong faith in the client's ability to heal so that the client would build or strengthen their abilities to live life to its fullest.
