Getting to know Ignacio Bidegain

I am Ignacio Bidegain, and I help you understand how your past impacts your life today by showing you the way your thoughts, emotions and behaviors developed from early on. As you gain insight about the "why," we will work towards developing new and authentic ways of thinking and acting that will allow you to start experiencing life with joy and energy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide multicultural care for clients above 14 y/o, all races, and backgrounds. Through our collaborative therapeutic relationship, we will explore how cognitions, behaviors, genetical tendencies, and socio-cultural influences have impacted your wellbeing. We will work together as a team to accomplish your mental health, wellness, education, and career goals, and most important, to help you reach the most fulfilled version of yourself. ? Growing up as a middle class, Spanish-speaking Latino male in Argentina and having developed in athletic -highly competitive- environments in several countries as a competitive tennis player, I got to observe the impact of socio-cultural systems as well as personality tendencies in the behavior and well-being of others. ? Through a person-centered, motivational interviewing, and CBT approach, clients will gain increased self-awareness and decision-making capacity in their lives. With these goals in mind, I will rely on my previous counseling experiences serving in a variety of settings (e.g., IOP and PHP programs, school based counseling), as well as personal experiences.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Feeling doubtful about starting therapy? I get it, I've been there as well. The most helpful thing I found to deal with this was giving it a chance and reaching out. As you experience therapy, you realize how flexible, helpful, and impactful it can be (in ways you probably didn't think about previously). I am happy to answer any questions you might have! Initially, we do a brief intake call where we discuss if I might be a good fit for you, what sort of availability you have and to get any other questions you might have answered! (There is no pressure to get started right away!)
