Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Ilan Navah (he/him), an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and Registered Nurse. My approach to therapy is holistic, trauma-informed, and collaborative, with an emphasis on seeing the whole person rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis or a single chapter of their life. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University and a Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nursing from Cal Poly Humboldt. I am trained in EMDR and draw from transpersonal psychology, archetypal exploration, mindfulness, CBT, and DBT. I also have more than 10 years of experience in psychedelic integration, helping people make meaning of transformative experiences and bring those insights into everyday life. Before becoming a counselor, I spent 12 years as a nurse and EMT, working in emergency rooms and ambulances, hospice and palliative care, integrative and functional medicine, homeless shelters, and music festivals. I have also worked in global health settings in Ghana, Uganda, and the Northern Mariana Islands. These experiences have taught me to meet people from all walks of life with curiosity, openness, and respect for their unique stories. I work with clients ages 16 and older from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities. I see therapy as a journey we take together, with me alongside you as a fellow traveler rather than someone who has all the answers. My goal is to create a grounded, non-judgmental space where you can slow down, develop greater awareness, explore patterns, process difficult experiences, and reconnect with your own inner resources.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see therapy as a collaborative process and a journey we take together. I’m not here to tell you who you are or how you should live; I’m here to walk alongside you with curiosity, respect, and without judgment. I’ll invite you to explore your experiences at your own pace while we develop greater awareness of patterns, emotions, and underlying needs. My approach is holistic and trauma-informed, integrating mindfulness, EMDR, and other therapeutic approaches as appropriate. I value authenticity and believe you are the expert on your own experience. Together, we can explore what is happening beneath the surface, develop practical tools, and work toward greater connection, resilience, and meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically begin by getting to know you, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to explore or change. From there, we work collaboratively to understand patterns, experiences, and goals while developing an approach that fits your needs. Sessions may include conversation, mindfulness, EMDR, and other therapeutic tools. I aim to create space for both deeper exploration and practical steps you can bring into daily life, while allowing the process to unfold at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful.
