Getting to know Ilyana Sori

Hi, I'm Ilyana Sori, a Licensed Clinical Social Work/Therapist with over 10 years of providing case management support and 5 years of direct clinical/therapeutic practice. I have studied Health Science/Public Health at Boston University for my undergraduate work. I then earned a master's degree in Social Work from CUNY/Lehman College, with a focus in clinical practice. I have worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults who experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other diagnoses.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice is informed primarily by dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Attachment theory. I aim to meet you where you're at with warmth and empathy to build trust and safety in order to support you in your personal growth as well as other relationships in your life. Whether we are working to build an understanding of yourself or slowing down to build up tolerance of difficult emotions, I will actively listen with compassion and patience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will consist of an intake assessment to explore your mental/medical health history in addition to education, occupation, and family history. We begin by working collaboratively to build a treatment plan as a road map to track your progress as well as identify opportunities for education and skill building. As our work continues, it is important for me to always check in with what is working and what is not. Starting therapy can be difficult, even if it's not a new practice. Please reach out with any questions that you may have.
