Getting to know Ima Heron

I began my work in the field of mental health as a counselor in group homes for at risk youth in 1980. I have since attained a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Science in Counseling from University of Phoenix, and have been licensed since 2013. I work with clients who may be struggling with depression and/or anxiety related to past and current trauma, those who may need coping skills to manage a particular mental health issue, or to manage issues around neurodivergent diagnoses, including ADHD and ASD. I will always respect and work with your needs to help you make the changes you want to make in your life. I typically use a wide variety of approaches in my practice. for example, I may utilize interventions from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, along with coping skills from mindfulness and attachment theories, somatic techniques (tapping), or experiential. I definitely work from a strength-based and person-centered focus meaning I am willing to utilize what works best for each individual.
