Getting to know Irma Mendez, LPC

Hi, I’m Irma Mendez, a licensed professional counselor with a deep passion for helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with their inner strength. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship stress, self-worth struggles, or simply trying to make sense of life, I’m here to walk beside you. My goal is to offer a space where you feel safe, accepted, and truly heard. In our work together, I’ll focus on your emotional and mental well-being using a collaborative, non-judgmental approach. I draw from CBT, DBT, humanistic, and behavioral therapies to help you build insight and tools to move forward. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in El Paso, TX, and bring over eight years of experience supporting adolescents and adults. I’ve helped clients facing substance use, family and relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, anger, body image concerns, and self-harm, all with empathy and cultural sensitivity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the session, I focus on my client's mental and emotional well-being. As a counselor, I help guide my clients through their struggles so they can find a way through obstacles they may face. I am culturally sensitive and respectful of the client's diversity and background. I always demonstrate compassion and empathy toward others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have experience working with clients struggling with substance use, relationship and family issues, self-esteem and body image issues, anxiety, depression, anger management problems, youth and adolescent problems, and self-harming behaviors. I have experience working with adolescents and adults as well. Modalities that I use include and are not limited to CBT, DBT, Humanistic, and Behavioral Therapy.
