What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a background working with families impacted by trauma, domestic violence, divorce, and addiction. I also have continued experience working with children and adults K-12 experiencing mental health challenges such as depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, identity issues, family conflict, relational issues, and self-esteem issues. I have specialty in integrating foundational aspects of Christianity into therapy, however, this integration is only used for client's who resonate with this kind of faith. I am open to working with client's of any background, beliefs, and culture. I have helped people from all walks of life and always look forward to helping more.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT helps us understand how thoughts shape emotions and behavior, and I'll help you build practical tools for change. However, I use a variety of approaches based on the clients strenghts, values, background, existing symptoms, and personality. In our first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and decide the best path forward regarding goals, approach to therapy, frequency of sessions, and whether or not we are the best match for one another based on your needs and what I can provide. We will also discuss confideniality and any questions or concerns regarding therapy while getting to know one another. The most successful outcomes in therapy typically come from what feels like a well-paced journey rather than a sprint to completion. I aim to provide an open, non-judgmental space, giving clients the freedom to choose what to work on and what to talk about. The direction of our work together will always be collaborative.
