Ivy King, MS

Psychotherapist
MI
Hi there, I'm Ivy! I’m a Licensed Clinical Therapist in Michigan with over 12 years of experience. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Wayne State University. I work with adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, grief, and panic disorders, using a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach. My goal is to provide a supportive, empathetic, and empowering experience through evidence-based practices and self-care. My approach My approach is person-centered and tailored to individual needs. CBT is the method I use most, helping clients identify negative thoughts and behaviors while developing coping strategies to replace them. CBT helps me build rapport and develop mechanisms to address triggers and behaviors affecting daily life. My focus I work best with adults, especially seniors facing physical decline, social challenges, and loss of independence. These transitions often cause overwhelm, anxiety, and depression. Helping clients cope with these life complexities is my goal. We work as a team to find coping mechanisms and self-care interventions that suit them. My communication style My style is enjoyable, helpful, and empathetic. I aim to provide a safe space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves, with an open mind and caring heart. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to therapy was inspired by my mother, a warm and compassionate woman who wanted to help others. She was studying social work but became ill and had to stop. Her caring spirit inspired me to finish what she started. I became an LCSW who deeply cares about others' well-being.
