Getting to know Jack Disselhorst
I most enjoy working with people who want to go deep and experience connection. Whether you are feeling stuck, lost, anxious, depressed, or uncertain, therapy will provide you with a safe place to explore and work toward meaningful change. I believe the core of individual therapy involves exploring the root causes of our problems, having someone to talk to who will never judge you, and learning the right way for you to cope with life's many difficulties. In couples therapy, my priority is aiding you to deeply understand your partner(s) and yourself, finding the way forward for you to feel safe and fulfilled.
What should a new client know about working with you?
As a beneficiary of therapy myself, I know the transformative power of being deeply understood, never judged, and fiercely supported. Whether you've been in therapy for years, or you don't know where to start, we can start to uncover together what you need, and what is getting in your way.
Please note that I am not able to prescribe psychiatric medications; as a therapist, I can connect you with a psychiatrist who can.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My therapeutic approach prioritizes authenticity, connection, and exploration. I blend Psychodynamic, Relational, Emotion-Focused, and other therapies for both individuals and couples. I have expertise working with LGBTQIA+ folks, depression, anxiety, addiction/substance use, sexual dysfunction, men's issues, polyamory/non-monogamy, and complex trauma.

Ongoing session: $75-160 for 50 minutes
- Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
- Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
- Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

For folks who are uninsured or have insurance I don't accept, I operate on a sliding scale. In the spirit of transparency, the 'sticker price' of therapy is $160 per session, but I work with clients on a sliding scale to a minimum of $75 per session.
