What should a new client know about working with you?

I would describe my personality as compassionate, understanding and humorous and use this to make my clients feel comfortable and accepted. I observe my clients are able to become open and vulnerable. They can trust me as their therapist and let their guard down. My clients can rely on a positive and witty conversation to help them see there is another way of looking at a situation. In more serious moments, my clients know they have the capacity to share those difficult emotions and know that I I will provide them with empathy. My clients know they can rely on me to help them work through challenges and to be there when they have questions. My personality helps to create a strong foundation for the therapeutic alliance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A first session is the most important. This is where you determine if this is a good fit. My approach welcomes you with an open space and allows you to be you. This is where I learn about what brought you here and the struggles you are facing. Exploring these struggles with you and asking you about your goals, I am better able to make a treatment plan that best fits your needs. You can feel free to vent as I am here to listen. This is for you and I strive to make this the most comfortable place to seek help. I work with you to start piecing the puzzle together and to help you overcome any challenges. My hope for this session is you leave with a positive outlook of your future and a feeling that you are able to handle this next phase in your life. The first session will make you feel confident in your ability to learn and utilize healthy coping skills needed to reach your next step. After the first session, I discuss with you how you want to move forward and together we make the best plan of action that fits your therapeutic needs.
