Everyone has a future, and everyone should feel confident, safe, and empowered as they approach their future. Life transitions happen to everyone, whether that be a child transitioning schools or managing ever-changing emotions, or an individual who is facing a hardship with family, employment, or life. These experiences do not need to be processed and encountered alone. With four years of clinical experience, I specialize in exploring, processing, and encouraging growth with developmental, behavioral, and emotional challenges and concerns.

Getting to know Jacob Avila

Life transitions happen to everyone, whether that be a child transitioning schools or managing ever-changing emotions, or an individual who is facing a hardship with family, employment, or life. What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 4 years of clinical experience, I promote a safe, warm, and comfortable environment for clients to be their fully authentic selves in a non-judgemental manner. I utilize an integrative approach and style of treatment, utilizing modalities that support processing of the past, present, and future-related endeavors, concerns, and thought processes, to promote long-lasting growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Utilizing trauma-informed and scientifically-supported therapeutic approaches (play therapy, narrative therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy with children; Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Existential, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies with adults), I support individuals in discovering their full potential, while learning skills that can last a lifetime. I prioritize developing foundational and therapeutic professional relationships with clients early into treatment to promote positive growth opportunities early on, including in the development of goal-setting and treatment plans. While I can support client's in guiding them through the therapeutic process, I always encourage client's to go at their pace and discuss what is most relevant to them with each session, while introducing treatment goals into any therapeutic discussion in a seamless and comfortable manner.
