Getting to know Jacob McCurry

I work with individuals who are stuck in their depression, anxiety, anger, or challenges in their relationships. The individuals I serve desire to make meaningful and lasting changes. Together, we will explore your goals, identify steps to take, and work on overcoming any barriers. I look forward to supporting you in climbing to new heights.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am an eclectic therapist. As you will fin treatment, I will align my style to meet your goals and needs. Over the last several years, my clients have found the following approaches helpful: motivational interviewing to make lasting changes, DBT to increase distress tolerance, interpersonal communication, and emotional regulation, interpersonal therapy to develop new ways of interacting with family and peers, and finally CBT to restructure their thinking to improve self esteem.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session will include building rapport, getting to know your needs and goals. We will also discuss client rights and responsibilities. As we move in to the next sessions we will complete a goal plan and identify measurable and achievable steps to take in that direction. We will continue to discuss progress, celebrate success, and plan to prevent return of symptoms.
