Welcome to Whispering Tides Therapy. I am Jacqueline Machamer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate the often-turbulent waters of life to find their own "quiet center." My practice was founded on the belief that healing is not just about managing symptoms, but about rediscovering a sense of peace and resilience that allows you to thrive. The name "Whispering Tides" reflects my approach to therapy: I believe that while life can be as unpredictable and powerful as the ocean, there is also a rhythmic, restorative strength within each of us. My role is to provide the grounded, nature-inspired space where you can safely explore your inner world. With over five years of experience, I specialize in working with adults who feel "stuck"—whether that is due to past trauma, persistent anxiety, or the overwhelming weight of major life transitions. In my practice, I blend clinical expertise with a deeply compassionate, human-centered perspective. I understand that reaching out for help is a significant step, and I honor that by creating a non-judgmental environment where you are seen as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. My goal is to help you process the "ebbs and flows" of your experiences so that you can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional freedom.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The most important thing to know about working with me is that your safety and comfort are my highest priorities. Therapy is a collaborative partnership, and our first goal is always to build a secure relationship where you feel truly heard and understood. I am not a "blank slate" therapist; I am an active participant in your healing. You can expect a professional who is warm, grounded, and deeply committed to using the most effective, evidence-based tools available. Because I believe that the body often holds onto trauma and stress in ways that words cannot always reach, I specialize in neurobiologically-informed modalities. This means that in addition to traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I am trained in advanced techniques such as: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): To help desensitize and reprocess painful memories or "stuck" points. Brainspotting: A powerful tool used to identify and release the physical and emotional core of trauma. Hypnosis: To foster deep relaxation and access subconscious patterns for positive change. Whether we are working through a specific trauma or managing daily stressors, our work will be tailored to your unique pace and needs. You are the expert on your life; I am here to provide the specialized tools and the steady support to help you navigate it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our journey together begins with an initial intake session where we focus on building a strong foundation. This is a time for us to get to know one another, discuss what brings you to therapy, and identify your specific goals. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in success, so we start by ensuring you feel safe and comfortable in our space. Once we have established our goals, our process typically moves into a phase of "resourcing." Before we dive into deep-seated challenges, I ensure you have a "toolkit" of grounding techniques and self-regulation skills. This ensures that you feel empowered and stable as we begin the deeper work of healing. From there, we utilize an integrative approach. For some, this looks like using CBT to reframe negative thought patterns that are impacting daily life. For others, it involves using EMDR or Brainspotting to address the root causes of emotional blocks or trauma that haven't responded to traditional talk therapy. My process is intentional and rhythmic. We will periodically check in on our progress to ensure the work remains relevant to your life and that you are seeing the tangible changes you desire. As you begin to find relief and build resilience, our focus shifts toward long-term sustainability—equipping you with the confidence to handle future "tides" on your own. My ultimate goal is for you to reach a place where you feel more connected to yourself and empowered to live a life that feels authentic and peaceful.
