What is your typical process for working with clients?

After a free 15-minute consultation, we'll determine together if we are a good fit and should schedule our first appointment. I will send you a link to a secure online platform where you will fill out a few documents so I can better get to know you. During our first session, I will ask more about your background and also try to provide you with some immediate relief through deep understanding and insight. Over the next few sessions we will work on goals for your treatment. If you are submitting documentation to your insurance, I will need to provide a mental health diagnosis and will talk with you about the diagnosis process and what it means. If you are private pay, you will not need a diagnosis to be seen. In the next stage of therapy, we will address your treatment goals. I use somatic or mind/body interventions as living with illness or being in the medical system often is a challenge for us mentally, emotionally, and physically and so I want to address all of these domains in our work. I also often utilize trauma interventions as our current experiences are often influenced by previous traumas in our lives. My work primarily focuses on supporting you to live more authentically while also being in close and fulfilling relationships with others. Often clients experience significant relief after several sessions, but clients also tend to stay in therapy for several months. I check in regularly about how you are feeling about the therapeutic process and elicit feedback to help you feel more comfortable and get the most out of the therapy experience. I am very open with clients about what I am thinking and doing in sessions so you don't have to wonder what I am "really" thinking - I will let you know! :) Clients often meet with me initially weekly or every other week and as they progress, sometimes reduce to once a month. My door is always open for "check-ins" or for return clients. Thank you for reading this far and I look forward to working with you.
