What should a new client know about working with you?

Although I incorporate multiple, evidence based, therapeutic modalities into my practice (such as CBT, Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems Theory, Psychoeducation, trauma-informed care, and more) my practice is individualized and tailored to your needs. After all, therapy is not one size fits all. Where the power of therapy lies, is in the therapeutic relationship, and the trust that is built, so that you can reflect, be challenged, learn more about yourself and others, in a way that will help you move forward, and achieve your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will always start with a free, 15 minute consultation to determine if we are a good fit for one another in terms of style, schedule and your specific needs. Once we have that conversation and we can schedule our first session, and make a plan for what works best for you from there. I typically meet with clients once per week to start, so that we can really get to know one another and I can complete my assessment. After that we will schedule as frequently, and often as we mutually agree upon. My client's typically report feeling lighter, heard and more motivated after our first few sessions and we both look forward to subsequent meeting. If you are "up" for homework between sessions, I find that practicing skills or strategies we talk about in our sessions is very helpful in between sessions. Practice makes progress! But this homework is optional, and not required. I don't give out zeroes!
