“A very person-centered approach. She is able to recognize and point out the strengths I have and encourage me to use them in order to get through the struggles. Always makes sure we know we are in control of our lives and is more of a guide to solutions for our life not just telling me what to do. She is very direct and intelligent and open and willing to hear any concerns I might have always making sure she is giving me the best service/ assistance for me as an individual. There are no “text book” issues and she never makes it seem like that. Making it clear that every individual experiences things differently and gives a very personal approach. I am sure it is this way for everyone which is so important and greatly appreciated! Also, great with notes I’m assuming or great memory because she won’t make you repeat yourself. Like you’re her only client which is obviously not the case but such a special experience and not an easy task to do.”

Getting to know Jamaika Hughes

Jamaika is an LCSW who utilizes a very person-centered approach; however, she does challenge her clients when needed. Jamaika sees an array of clients, including those dealing with adjustment issues due to stressful life changes (toxic relationships, heartbreak, divorce, new job, school, sports performance issues, etc.), as well as clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and more. Jamaika has experience working with a diverse range of clients but holds specialties in three areas: athletes, domestic violence, and alcohol & substance use. A little bit about Jamaika: she is an alumna of Division 1 athletics and specializes in working with current and former elite athletes of all ages and stages, from elementary to professional. Jamaika also specializes in working with individuals experiencing or who have experienced domestic violence on physical, emotional, mental, and other abuse levels, including working with batterers who are ready to make a change. Lastly, she specializes in supporting individuals who struggle with misusing and abusing alcohol or substances and need assistance gaining control over maladaptive behaviors. Jamaika's treatment modalities consist of a mix of approaches tailored to each client and what she believes will best help them achieve their goals for each presenting issue. Common treatment modalities she utilizes, but is not limited to, include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. As a counselor, Jamaika provides a judgment-free zone and a safe, supportive therapeutic environment. She strives to help her clients reach their best selves and experience quality of life and peace within their minds. If you are interested in incorporating Faith-Based Counseling into your sessions, please notify Jamaika, as she is comfortable providing this upon request.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
