James Clifford, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm James! I'm 66 years old and go by Jim or Jaime. I've been working as a bilingual therapist in Spanish and English for most of my adult life. My educational background includes a Master's in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. I have worked with a wide variety of adult patients and clients of all ages. In the field of mental health, I find that most people mainly want and need an experienced professional therapist who will listen, understand, and help them move forward to manage their difficulties. My approach I have varied, eclectic mental health approaches and backgrounds. My focus I was in the US military, so I've lived in a variety of locations and have experience with various cultures and settings. I work with adults managing anxiety, depression, and/or psychosis. My communication style I ask each person what they want. Some people just want and need a therapist to listen and talk through topics and issues so they can, over time, make decisions and move forward. Others ask for answers and direction from their therapist, and some want a mix of both. My journey to mental healthcare I grew up in a family and community where I saw mental health issues from a young age. While I noticed others' discomfort with mental health topics, I have always been very interested in a wide variety of mental health issues. I find working with people on these issues to be among the most interesting and rewarding professions. My goals for you While a therapist always promotes general mental health, each person has their own goals, which might evolve over time and can be reviewed often. My first session with you People seek understanding and guidance from their therapist. To do so, a therapist needs to know a patient's history over a wide variety of topics, which we address starting from the first session to the extent the person is able and willing to provide.
