James wants to provide a safe, comfortable, and relaxed climate where he can build a genuine and open therapeutic relationship with his clients. James takes a strengths-based approach to empower clients for the future with new skills, techniques, and knowledge, but also likes to explore how negative thinking patterns and styles have played into unhealthy behaviors. The approach he uses borrows from many modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-focused approaches. James enjoys using psychoeducation to teach clients, as he feels knowledge leads to the power to change. In his spare time, James enjoys writing and is working on becoming a published author, reading science- fiction and fantasy along with philosophy books focused on Stoicism and virtue ethics, hiking, and spending time with his family, including his beloved pup, Tito.
