Getting to know James Guidi

My ideal client is someone who is open to exploring their feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and relationships and willing to undertake the journey of change. This process is not always easy; change is difficult, and we often get stuck in unhealthy patterns of behavior and belief. Change can be uncomfortable-sometimes even frightening-even when you are in pain. My ideal client is ready to confront their ambivalence and fears and actively participate in the struggle to learn new ways to cope with and address what hurts them. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed marriage and family therapist, and Certified Addictions Counselor with over 20 years of experience treating individuals and families. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School. In my work, I integrate a cognitive behavioral perspective with a systems thinking approach to conceptualize the issues clients bring to me.
