James Jefferson, LISW

Psychotherapist
SC
James Jefferson is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice. He utilizes a person-centered approach to meet you where you are and provide the support you desire. Let's normalize seeking support and prioritizing mental wellness. My approach James uses multiple treatment approaches, including narrative therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing (MI), and solution-focused therapy (SFT). My focus Since 2012, James has provided mental health services to individuals in need. He works with adults of all ages, including the medically vulnerable. James specializes in depression, anxiety, mindfulness, stress, cultural problems, and communication. My communication style I provide a stress-reducing, safe environment that allows individuals to be vulnerable without repercussions during sessions. My journey to mental healthcare After earning my Bachelor of Social Work from Virginia State University, I worked with individuals with mental health diagnoses. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional, I connected members to services to improve their mental health. While searching for therapists for members, I noticed a lack of diversity among therapists. Members wanted a more diverse pool to choose from. This inspired me to further my education and become a therapist. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina to better serve this need. My goals for you Individuals, with guidance, create goals and objectives to measure their progress. I believe individuals should have autonomy over their treatment. My first session with you The first session is an intake, including a biopsychosocial assessment, an initial treatment plan, and scheduling future appointments. Individuals can share their preferred treatment style and desired therapy outcomes.
