Getting to know James King

I am a Pennsylvania Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience working with teens, young adults, and the elderly who face challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I have also worked extensively with individuals and couples navigating transitions and relationship issues. Additionally, I bring experience in pastoral and spiritual counseling, which often supports mental health and well-being. I hold an MA in Theology and a Master’s degree in Divinity from Christ the King Seminary, as well as an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from La Salle University. For the past 15 years, I have taught undergraduate courses in philosophy, theology, and psychology at Gwynedd Mercy University and Holy Family University. My background includes a diverse range of experiences, including work in construction, high school teaching and coaching, youth ministry, college teaching, and over 20 years in the corporate world. I am compassionate about helping people and strive to gently guide them through life’s difficulties and obstacles that may affect their mental well-being and happiness. I am approachable, relatable, and deeply committed to supporting others. Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family, writing, running, and music.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect from me an honest, relatable therapist who is concerned about their mental and emotional well being. We all get stuck at times in life and need a professional who will help them get through the these difficult times. I always take clients where they are and not where I think they should be. So, with gentle guidance and nurturing within the context of a solid therapeutic relationship, I encourage self awareness, growth and management of the problems that may be holding them back at this point in their life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

We already booked another appointment. My husband and I were very happy with the service and Jim King was a great listener. We look forward to growing in this process.

Jim’s specialty wasn’t appropriate for what I needed, but he was very clear, honest, and kind about it and recommended I seek out another therapist with more experience in my area of need. He could have just taken my money and continued to try to help but he gave up a client so he wouldn’t provide a form of care that he wasn’t comfortable providing.

We're here for a family booking and James was really nice and empathetic to all sides. I also really appreciate that he took the time to thoroughly go through the questionnaire before our conversation. It shows to me that he really does care.

I really like how James connects the issues I'm working on with my religion. That is something that I spoke with him about in the beginning and he has continued to help me have a deeper and more meaningful connection with my spirituality in addition to helping me become a stronger person.
Therapist was very pleasant and easy to talk to.
