Psychotherapist
UT
I believe therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what is going on in your life without feeling judged or like you have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant with more than 25 years of military service. My experiences in both the military and mental health fields have shaped a practical, straightforward, and compassionate approach to therapy. I work especially well with people who are used to being the strong one, taking care of everyone else, or pushing through difficult things until pushing through simply isn't working anymore. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, stress, anger, grief, and major life transitions. I have a particular passion for working with veterans, service members, first responders, and others who have experienced high-stress environments, while also working with individuals from all backgrounds. My approach is collaborative and individualized. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I don't believe therapy should look exactly the same for everyone. Together, we will identify what is getting in the way, build on what is already working, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward. You don't have to have the perfect words or even know exactly what you want from therapy before getting started. Sometimes the first step is simply recognizing that something needs to change. We can figure out the rest together.
