Getting to know James Mullings

James approaches each client in a way that brings out their individual and unique strengths, thoughts, passions, and experiences, while also recognizing the commonality of human experiences. With these two perspectives in mind, James respects and empathizes with each person, suggesting treatments that have been shown to help others facing similar challenges. His approach combines Biblical wisdom, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. James often assigns work to be done between sessions, which can be an effective way to change negative thoughts and behaviors. He believes that God has much to say about the human condition, and that true change happens when His insight is brought to a problem and everyone works together toward a happier life. James earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2013. He has been married for eight years and is the proud father of two amazing boys. James currently lives in Washington, DC, but sees most of his clients in Maryland.
