James Phillips, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm James! My name is James Phillips Sr., LMFT. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I strive to foster an experience of safety, trust, and partnership as we work together toward the process of change. I pride myself on having a “whatever it takes” holistic approach, integrating multiple therapeutic modalities catered to your needs in a safe and therapeutic environment. My approach While there are a variety of theoretical approaches a therapist can take to assist in seeking mental health stability and maintenance, common approaches I have utilized include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family/Marital, Family Systems, Gestalt, Narrative, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Strength-Based, Structural Family Therapy, and Trauma Focused. I am also receptive to learning alternative therapeutic approaches in an effort to provide the best care services for clients. My focus My therapeutic experience includes working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. In addition, I have experience working with families, couples, and individuals with a variety of diagnoses and presenting problems including depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment disorders, and oppositional and conduct concerns. My communication style I am focused on maintaining an environment of safety and comfort but also place emphasis on caring with every client as challenges, fears, and discouragement may surface from time to time during sessions. My hope is to always convey the idea that challenges, fears, and discouragement can be overcome rather than become overwhelming if time and practice are embraced and implemented. I am here for the duration and desire to do what it takes to provide a space for growth and change.
