His approach is largely Cognitive Behavioral but he has training in other treatment modalities, the Addiction Process and Biofeedback. His client base includes helping people with Mental illnesses, e.g. Depression, Bipolar, Anxiety/Panic Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Alcohol and Drug Addiction, and Marital issues. James graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Master of Science Degree in Counseling in 1976. He did one year of post graduate training at the Alfred Adler Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He retired from the Air Force in 1989 while serving here in San Antonio at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. His military service started in 1966 with the U.S. Anny. James is one of a very few Professional Counselors who are certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. He was an adjunct professor of Psychology for the University of Maryland’s overseas programs for the military and a Practicum Supervisor for Boston University’s overseas Counseling Program.
