Getting to know James Stowe

Hello. I'm James, and I appreciate that you are considering me to be your therapist. The decision to begin therapy for the first time or with a new treatment professional requires strength, courage, and commitment. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, financial pressures, addiction, or any other obstacle that prevents you from living the life you want, finding the right therapist is an important part of getting back to where you would like to be. I have experienced a variety of obstacles in my own life and personally understand how the therapeutic process can help change your life. This is my second career. While working in manufacturing at a pharmaceutical company and being a full-time single parent, I completed my education over several years and began working part-time in the field several years before retiring from the pharmaceutical industry in 2012. I have worked with groups and individuals in a variety of settings. To me, this career is a calling for which my collective life experiences have prepared me. I hold Master's degrees in Psychological Counseling, Addictions Counseling, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Mental Health Counseling from La Salle University. I deeply appreciate the uniqueness of each individual and have worked with people from many different cultures, religions, and lifestyle orientations. In my own life, I strive for continual personal growth and to nurture my mind, body, and spirit. Should you decide to work with me, I will help you appreciate your strengths and build on the courage and commitment that brought you to seek change. My goal is always to help you find ways to be happy in your life-and to do it in ways that work for you. If you're willing to do the work, your life WILL get better.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I view the therapeutic relationship as a working partnership in which you are at least 51% and I am at most 49%. My goal is to guide you to where you would like to be in your life and for you to be able to sustain what you gain from therapy. We will work on things like self-esteem, self-awareness, building strong relationships , personal care, coping strategies and spiritual awareness. We will identify and work to modify unhealthy thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of your happiness. The ultimate goal is for you to find the support in your own life and develop self-care tools so that you eventually no longer Feel theneed to be in therapy.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

My hour with James keeps me in check and grounds me to make better decisions. Best therapist I ever had.
I feel like I get the direction and suggestions I need to make improvements in my life. I like being held accountable and given ideas and opportunities to grow and think differently.
I almost don't want to say all the amazing things we have to say because selfishly we want him to ourselves!! He's truly that great. Well rounded and easily allows each individual in the couple to feel heard, understood, and appreciated. We've only held three sessions with him so far and the amount of progress we've achieved is unbelievable. As long as you are open to healing- I promise you will. 110/10 stars in our book :)
In all my years of attending therapy James is the first I want to continue with long term. I feel comfortable telling him things and don’t feel judged. So happy I found him!
Down to earth.
James projects a warm & caring attitude.
I wish I could have chosen more than two qualities that make James the counselor to speak to. He is very intelligent, solution oriented, warm and caring. Everyone needs “a James” in their life to help navigate life’s bumps in the road. He has been there for me every step of the way since my husband passed away. Thank you James.
I've been working with James for around a month and can't recommend him highly enough. I've been in regular therapy for 5+ years and my former therapist passed away and it was a struggle to replace him (I find the process of finding the right match daunting). James is very easy to speak to, is genuinely warm, empathetic and understanding, and easy to get a hold of. I think therapy is strongly contingent on an individuals "fit", but James is genuinely easy to speak with and strikes me as the type to not be offended at all if you are looking for something different out of your therapy (and I'm sure would do his best to help point you in the right direction).
