Getting to know James Weisbecker

Life can feel heavy, and sometimes the tools we’ve used to get by just aren't enough anymore. Whether you’re navigating the sharp edges of grief, feeling paralyzed by 'what ifs,' or just tired of feeling like you’re performing a role instead of living your life—I’m here to help. I work with adults from all walks of life—from parents and students to retirees and working professionals. While I hold a Master’s in Professional Counseling, I believe the most important thing I bring to our sessions is a genuine, heart-centered space where you can finally stop 'holding it together.' When we meet virtually, online, my goal is to help you find your footing again and build a life that feels authentic to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The biggest hurdle is often just logging in that first time and showing up. In my practice, there is no 'right way' to be a client. You don't need a perfect script or a clear list of goals on day one. You can show up tired, messy, or unsure of where to start. I don’t see you as a 'case' to be solved or as someone who is broken; I see someone navigating a difficult time in their life. My role isn't to sit back and nod. I’m right there in the trenches with you, offering practical tools and a steady hand as we move toward the version of life you actually want to live.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we work together, you’ll notice that I’m not the kind of therapist who just sits back and nods. Our sessions are active and collaborative. I take a "coaching-style" approach. This means I’m right there in the trenches with you, offering clear guidance and practical tools you can actually use the moment you leave my office. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on what you’re walking through, we’ll pull from a toolkit of proven methods: To Calm the "Overwhelmed" Brain: We use HeartMath. This is a simple, science-based way to help your body physically reset when you’re feeling "on edge" or paralyzed by stress. To Heal Past Hurts: If you feel "stuck" in old memories, we use EMDR. It helps take the painful sting out of past experiences so they stop following you into your present life. To Break Stuck Patterns: Through CBT and ACT, we’ll identify the "broken record" thoughts that keep you trapped and practice new ways to move forward based on what you actually value. To Find Emotional Clarity: We use EFIT to help you make sense of your deepest emotions. This allows you to feel more secure and connected, both to yourself and to others. To Build Resilience (Growth Mindset): I help you shift from a "fixed" mindset, the belief that you're just stuck this way, to a Growth Mindset. We’ll work on seeing challenges as opportunities to evolve, moving you from "I can't" to "I haven't learned how yet." My goal is to empower you to break through mental barriers and build a life that feels lighter and more authentic. Every journey is unique, and I tailor our plan to fit your specific pace and goals. Ready to start? Book an appointment today and let’s take that first step together.
