Jami Young, LCSW

Psychotherapist
FL
My goal is to help you support yourself. An effective therapist provides compassion, empathy, creativity, and a place of safety and support. I work with various ages: teenagers dealing with anxiety and stress related to adjustment issues and social/academic pressures; families to support parents in parenting skills and behavioral management; and individuals with anxiety and depression, addressing sleep issues, interpersonal and relationship challenges, using mindfulness, self-care, and healthy choices. Using a collaborative approach, I help my clients acknowledge and address negative patterns, engage in better decision-making, build stronger relationships, and create attainable goals. I utilize both cognitive behavioral and solution-focused theories to help articulate concerns and goals, working toward them in a healthy and positive manner. Life is hard, and everyone needs support. We work together on the skills to support your emotional well-being. Therapy is supposed to be uncomfortable. Our relationship is a large part of the process. I am open and direct but not judgmental. I am not someone who will just nod my head and take notes, nor will I tell you what to do or impose my beliefs on you. This is a safe space. I ask my clients to be open with me and share if I've said something that bothers them or if they're in a mood and don't feel like talking and need to sit in silence or talk about a new pair of shoes she bought or a new guitar he is looking at. I expect you to show up for yourself, as I always will, and I hold the therapeutic relationship to the highest standard to support your process. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University, which informs my approach and commitment to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care.
