“I started therapy at a time of my life when I was struggling. As a man, I also had trouble speaking to other men about emotional topics. I thought I’d be seen as weak or defective. I chose a man anyway because I knew somewhere that had to change. Jamie told me during our first session that the goal was to not need our sessions anymore. He then guided me through a rough 2.5 years of my life. Along the way, I learned to identify and feel my emotions (not ignore them), have hard conversations in a healthy way, and open myself up to love and be loved by my girlfriend (soon to be wife). I learned tools that made it easy to break down complicated emotional situations into digestible steps that showed life wasn’t as complicated as I thought. He also showed me empathy when I needed it most. He always said he was just a guide and I was the one doing the work, but I don’t know how I would have done it without him. I now have much more meaningful relationships all around. I’m proud of myself.”

“Jaime helped me in a time when I really needed it. I’ve grown into a completely different person since starting therapy. He gives you easy tasks to do so that you make actual progress towards your goals. There were things I didn’t want to hear but I needed to in order to grow. It took ime but Jaime was patient and able to help me through my problems and get me to the person I was always meant to be. I will always be grateful for our sessions and the work we accomplished.”

Getting to know Jamie DeGeorge

My name is Jamie, and I am a licensed mental health counselor with 25 years of experience. I hold a Master's in Counselor Education from Canisius University. Do you feel you could be doing better? Do you feel it's time for a little help? Have you been to counseling before but didn't experience the results you hoped for? Do you feel it's time for a change? If you answered yes-or even if you're just here now-it could mean you're ready. I would like the opportunity to work with you to help you achieve the peace and success in life that you're searching for. If we start counseling together, we will have a job to do. Whatever goals you have, it will be our job to achieve them. To do any job well, a person needs two things: knowledge and tools. Over the past 25 years, I have developed a straightforward and healing style of therapy. I have enjoyed success in helping people overcome their problems and fears. Allow me the opportunity to share my knowledge and tools with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a person-centered style and approach. I provide a safe place for exploration and assessment without judgment. A typical session with me would consist of identifying current stressors, working collaboratively on problem-solving, and identifying solutions. We usually wrap up with a homework assignment or identify specific skills to use between sessions to cope with and alleviate ongoing difficulties.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process for working with clients is to provide folks with a thorough evaluation that identifies not only current stressors and problems, but also to identify their solutions. I have advanced training and experience in several different treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, schema-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused care. During sessions, we want to identify where the needs are and how to meet those needs. My goal is to provide the knowledge and tools folks need to understand the sources of their difficulties, and the ability to use tools effectively through modeling and practice. My practice uses an AI-assisted note-taking system to support accurate and efficient documentation. If you’re not comfortable with this technology, I completely understand and encourage you to find another provider through Zocdoc who better aligns with your preferences. Alternatively, I’m happy to provide referrals to other clinicians directly.

Jamie is a fantastic therapist to work with. He taught me a lot of valuable techniques that I use on a daily basis to help manage my anxiety and ADHD.
Having tried therapy in the past and not feeling like it had added any value into my life, I was extremely skeptical that someone could truly understand my needs. In only a couple of sessions, I really started to resonate with Jamie's treatment plan and felt really excited to put in the work. With Jamie as my therapist, I finally felt comfortable being open and honest about concerns I had previously been nervous to even say out loud - and even though he was always honest with me in his feedback, I never felt judged or embarrassed. However, I am most grateful that Jamie taught me how to help myself. His goal was never to have me in therapy for the rest of my life, but rather, give me the tools necessary to feel self-confident and strong in those hard situations that I used to feel so helpless in. Thank you, Jamie!
I can't recommend Jamie more highly. He helped me move through issues I was facing (self-worth / depression) with a systematic and personalized approach. I felt heard and understood, and it always felt like we were working to address my underlying issues. Jamie was always engaged and even provided supplementary reading materials on my issues so that I could learn even more. When Jamie and I agreed I had overcome my issues, we concluded our sessions, but he agreed to always make himself available if any problems should arise again. Jamie is an incredible therapist and I fully recommend him!
Jamie has been my provider throughout some very difficult times in my life and I’m grateful for his expertise. Through schema therapy and understanding my “life traps”, I’m now aware and accepting of my childhood trauma that led me to anxiety and depression. Jamie has taught me several coping mechanism skills that I continually challenge myself to practice almost daily. I highly recommend Jamie as a mental health care professional.
I highly recommend Jamie. I had never done therapy before, and as such, was not sure what to expect. However, Jamie helped me more than I could have ever envisioned. I suffer from anxiety, and he helped me identify the root causes, and provided useful strategies and techniques to help alleviate it. He took a problem that felt overwhelming and unidentifiable, and made it understandable and manageable. Our sessions were incredibly helpful, and I am grateful for his expertise and guidance.
Jamie was the therapist I needed to help me better communicate with my spouse as well as resolve my low level depression. He was a good listener and helped me build a toolset to tackle my challenges.
Jaime is a pro and really gave me useful tools to manage my mental health. He listens and offers great feedback. I would recommend his services to anyone looking for tools manage stress and anxiety.
I've had a fantastic experience working with Jamie. He does an exceptional job of asking the right questions so he can best understand why you may be seeking treatment. Overall, he is a great listener that truly wants to understand my story. After working with Jamie, I have felt more equipped to handle stress and anxiety in a more proactive way.
I had a great experience with Jamie overall. He helped me with issues I’ve been battling for almost 15 years just never would seek out treatment. I cried after our first session because i had felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Jamie made me feel really comfortable during our sessions. I felt at ease with opening up about my life and struggles. 5 stars!! I would refer Jamie to anyone looking for treatment.
I’ve only had one session, but I think Jaime is what I need and that he’s doing nonsense and cuts to the chase with the goal of helping my mental state. Thanks Jaime :). But please don’t take my time slot -C?

Jamie is a great listener and a straight talker which I really appreciated. He didn't shy away from asking difficult questions and letting us know what he was observing. He gave us useful information and tangible things to work on. This was our first visit for marriage counseling and we both felt comfortable with him and found the session useful. Looking forward to working with him and improving our relationship.

This feels like being lead on a well-lit path in comparison to walking in a dark alley by myself. Jamie has lots to offer in terms of techniques and approaches in order to guide you towards the best version of yourself.
I've found Mr. Degorge to be a very knowledgeable, experienced, supportive counselor. He's helped me overcome several difficulties. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Jamie was professional and understanding of what I needed from therapy. Right away gave options for how we should conduct our first session to make sure I was comfortable.

In a month, I've learned more about myself than I've ever done. Jamie taught me how one can get addicted to his own problems too. What you need is some rock-solid support on your side to take the first step in order to go at 'em! I feel lucky to have found that support. As a sports fan I dig Jamie's baseball / sports references I must say! He's not only very experienced but also direct, honest, cheerful. Scheduling with him online was also easy. I recommend working with him to anyone.
Just when I was feeling really disappointed about having switched between different counselors, Mr. Degeorge's take on therapy spoke to me with its direct, no fuss - no muss, "it's right there if you wanna get it" approach. With decades of experience, he just knows what techniques he's leading the conversation with while talking with you. (No idle chatting happening here!) I'm so happy with the choice I've made and the results I've been seeing in my life. Thank you, sir!
Trusting your therapist is one thing, trusting that they will help you change your life is another. I mean, honestly I didn't expect a literal shift in my life with just me implementing some of the stuff Jamie's been teaching me during sessions. Yet it's working! It's sure hard work to change one's habits no matter what. It requires persistency, Jamie is also clear about that. It definitely feels easier and smoother when you're in such good hands though! I've never managed to come so far with previous therapists that I'd seen. - Much appreciated.
Jamie is one of the best out there! With his knowledge and experience, he had so many different techniques and approaches that he was able to offer for different problems that I've expressed. He brought such new perspectives and solutions to those issues, which I could have never come up with on my own. The overall result was this huge positive shift in my life. I can't thank him enough and recommend him enough!
My long term anxiety and depression went away, after I've worked on it with Jamie. He's been very direct, not holding back any opportunity to guide and support me on my path. As needed, I was offered different ways to tackle my issues. I'm grateful for his help. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a great therapist!
