Getting to know Jamie Flowers

I have been a therapist for over 8 years and have worked in mental health for about 15 years. I love connecting with people, learning about them, and helping them realize their fullest potential. I work with individuals, couples, and families to explore feelings and process issues toward acceptance and self-compassion. My expertise includes anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma. I believe destigmatizing mental health and addiction and advocating for human rights (such as antiracism and LGBTQIA+ rights) can make the world better. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Central Florida, which deepened my understanding and skills. I am passionate about educating people on “small t trauma” and “big T trauma,” as many don’t recognize traumatic experiences as significant, thinking “they could have had it worse.” "Little t traumas" are distressing events that leave someone feeling hopeless and beyond their ability to cope, though not life-threatening. Examples include infidelity, divorce, legal trouble, grief, interpersonal conflict, bullying, financial difficulty, chronic stress, unsafe environments, or feeling unloved or unimportant. "Big T traumas" are deeply disturbing, life-threatening events like violent crimes, abuse, war, natural disasters, serious accidents, or death. Marginalized communities often face layered complexities from accumulated small t traumas unrecognized by the larger community and experience more big T traumas. I help these individuals be seen, heard, and get the help they need. I am honored to work with all individuals, including marginalized people, their allies, and those seeking more understanding and empathy. I strive to keep learning and improving to best impact the world. From my personal and professional mental health experiences, I know most people have the power to heal within themselves, and with the right tools and knowledge, they often help themselves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As your therapist, I believe in a person-centered approach, which means that I will follow your lead. Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want to talk about and that is great. Some clients come in and are unsure of the whole thing, they don't know what to say or not say, they are worried and self-conscious, so I work with these individuals to make sure they are comfortable and feel supported. By initially building this type of trusting environment, we can collaborate to make the most effective use of our time together. As goals are met and new things arise, we will continue to assess until you feel empowered to continue on your own. While some sessions may be hard and give you an emotional hangover, most clients leave sessions with me feeling relieved, validated and capable.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits

Made more progress in 5 sessions than I did in months or years with other therapists. She's great for CPTSD.
Jamie has been amazing thus far and I’m excited to continue to work with her.
I immediately felt like she was happy to listen to me and never once made me feel judged, instead I felt kinda happy to have someone willing to listen and provide a safe space to work on myself
Jamie makes you feel comfortable and heard. It feels like you’re talking to a friend. I have truly never been more comfortable with a therapist before in my life. Highly recommend.
I think one of the biggest things to look for in a therapist is someone that you click with, and from our first session I could tell that Jamie would be a fantastic therapist for me! And she has been!
jamie flowers is the best therapist I've ever had. she is so kind and approaches everything with a degree of warmth and genuine care for her patients. I've resolved more issues in the 6+ months I've been seeing her than the 10+ years I've been in therapy as a whole. :)
Jamie is great, because she gives input around things I haven't even thought about myself, not just some obvious things. She's super authentic and direct, but warm and empathetic at the same time. I wish I could have her all to myself! She is obviously popular amongst clients. I like how I feel after I leave the session and how there are good boundaries, where we both can separate from each other and continue on our day.
